Phoenix Lessons
Most of us, in the course of our adult lives, have experienced the need to reinvent ourselves. Something happens, life blows up, and now we've got to rebuild. It's easy to get so mired in the grief of our losses and transitions that we wander too long amidst the rubble of ideas we once had about ourselves and our lives, hoping we can make something of what is left after our structures have
come crashing down.
But the fabled Phoenix offers us some guidance whenever we
find ourselves needing to remake our lives. Periodically she burns herself up and rises again from her own ashes. It would be lovely if THE BURNING wasn’t necessary for THE RISING to happen. But it usually is. Lucky for all of us, there is always someone who has gone before us—blowing up their life and then coming back as a stronger-than-ever badass—that we can learn from.
Phoenix lessons are the stories and teachings of those who can show us how to climb out of the ashes and fly again.
Come and learn from those who know how to rise!

Ashes, Seeds, and Second Chances with Firdosi Wharton-Ali
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
After losing her home and everything she owned in the Palisades fire, screenwriter Firdosi Wharton-Ali faced the unimaginable: a chance to begin again from nothing. But instead of only rebuilding what was lost, she chose to reimagine what her life could become.
First, she poured herself into helping others in her community recover and heal. Then she turned inward. Standing in the ashes of one life, she made the courageous decision to let go of other things no longer serving her—old fears, patterns, expectations, and ways of living that had quietly burned out long before the fire arrived.
This is a story about loss, resilience, and the rare opportunity hidden inside life’s hardest moments: the chance not just to rebuild, but to transform.
